Cover Letter
Dear Hiring Manager,
I am currently a graduate student in the Sport Management program at California State University, Long Beach, and I am writing to express my interest in an entry-level role in communications. With my undergrad in journalism and advertising, along with hands-on experience in sales, event operations, and athletic communications, I am excited to bring a strong foundation in storytelling, relationship building, and strategic communication to a team within the sports industry.
My first role in sports was as an Athletics Communications Intern at CSULB. This experience was eye-opening, as it gave me my first opportunity to work in a live sports environment and reaffirmed that I was on the right career path. My experience as a Sports Programs Intern with Special Olympics has strengthened my ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences while managing logistics and maintaining strong relationships.
In addition, my experience as a Sales Development Representative has further developed my communication and interpersonal skills. Through outbound outreach, discovery conversations, and collaboration with cross-functional teams, I have learned how to listen, adapt messaging, and build meaningful connections. These skills translate directly to communications roles that require both strategic thinking and strong execution.
I am particularly drawn to opportunities that allow me to combine my passion for sports with my interest in marketing and communications. Having grown up as a competitive athlete and leader on my teams, I value the role that strong communication plays in building community, elevating brands, and creating meaningful connections with audiences.
I welcome the opportunity to contribute my skills, work ethic, and enthusiasm to your team while continuing to learn and grow within the field. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to the possibility of connecting.
Sincerely,
Madison Delrosario
